Alwyn Santos

Practice Director, Database CMS

Technology is a moving target. It keeps me yearning to learn more so we can stay relevant. Doing so helps me speak to our capabilities in terms of providing services to current and prospective clients.

I wear many hats, from delivery, to presales, to management. It makes a busy day fulfilling, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Managing and engaging with our clients is one of my favorite parts of my job. I get to to be hands on and practice what I preach, helping them understand the value of our Managed Services. Once they understand that Advizex is invested in their continued success, I know I did my job.

EXPERIENCE

Alwyn has been with Advizex for 17+ years going all the way back to the TUSC days. He joined the company as a Senior Consultant with focus on Oracle and Unix. Through the years, he explored and learned other technologies based on clientele needs and demand. For Alwyn, educating and improving his skills is always a welcomed challenge. As the Database Practice Director for the Cloud Managed Services group, Alwyn strives to continue to grow the company and practice.

Alwyn’s day to day responsibilities include efficient and effective delivery of Cloud Managed Services for Databases – comprised but not limited to Oracle, MS SQL Server, MySQL, and Open Source. Prior to joining Advizex, Alwyn’s previous roles included UNIX/DBA Manage and Lead Oracle DBA for firms in different industries such as B2B IT products, Municipal Bonds, Humanitarian Service, Legal, and Construction Supply.

He has accounted for a budget of $2M leading a UNIX/DBA team, realized cost savings of $12M for implementing preventive measures to minimize downtimes and reduced the municipal bond pricing program from 6 hours to less than an hour.
